Personal

Since I was little, I have drawn on the Earth for support. I grew up in the woodlands in New York State with a creek running through my backyard. I remember catching tadpoles, walking across fallen trees, and hiking through the forest. I have since lived under the big open skies of the Midwest, on the rainy coastal stretch of Oregon, and in the mountains of Montana. I find deep meaning and benefit in drawing from the connection I have developed with Earth. I am a creative person, often involved in writing and crafting projects. I love to drink tea, play with my son, and spend quality time with friends and family.

Professional

My name is Mary Corelli. My pronouns are She/Her/Hers. I live in Bozeman, Montana- traditional land of the Apsaalooké, Salish Kootenai, and Cheyenne people. This land is home to the Gallatin River, among other sources of life, and is the nearby neighbor of Yellowstone National Park- an active volcanic area with an abundance of protected animals including wild buffalo, grizzly bear, wolf, bald eagle, and salmon.

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Certified Mindfulness Teacher. I received my undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Notre Dame in 2012. My master’s degree was completed through Walden University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program in 2016. I am a 2021 graduate of a two-year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program (certified through UC Berkley Greater Good Science Center) under the teaching of Jack Kornfield, Tara Brach, and the mentorship of Leslie Booker.

Therapy

I have seven years of community mental health service experience- with adults, teens, children as young as 3, and families. I also worked in the public school system in Oregon doing mental health outreach, consultation, and therapy for individuals and groups of students. I opened my private practice in Bozeman in 2019.

I have substantial experience working with individuals and families with moderate to high levels of trauma. Particular issues I have encountered frequently in my practice include teen mood and anxiety disorders, parent-child relational conflicts, domestic violence, various other forms of trauma, women’s issues, cultural bias and oppression, climate grief and processing, spiritual challenges, psychedelic experience integration, as well as various mental health concerns such as anxiety and depression.

Mindfulness

I started my personal meditation practice in 2010. I grew into the practice through the Buddhist lens, including the Zen and Insight Meditation traditions. To me, mindfulness meditation is about living skillfully and finding refuge or peace. It gives me a break when I need it, helps me with stress and difficult emotions, connects me with community, and generally frames my life with kindness, compassion, joy, and acceptance. I practice mindfulness meditation because when I do, I feel like I belong on this Earth, in my body, and with other people.
