Basics
I will work with you or your child to establish trust and a foundation for deeply engaging in the work of therapy. My practice draws on many perspectives, including attachment, existentialism, trauma, cultural and world context, transpersonal/spirituality, mindfulness, ecopsychology, and internal family system (IFS).
My main goal is for you to feel heard, seen, and validated. Ultimately, this therapy is for you.
I will support that process with my own knowledge. I teach mindfulness skills to support the healing process. I also guide inner work, visualization, pausing, organizing understanding around wounds and childhood experiences, processing mentally, processing emotions, processing somatically in the body, and practicing new skills.
Techniques
Personality and preference determine what tools work best in therapy. Some of the methods I use are creative expression (writing, drawing), meditation, body movement, guided imagery, and using worksheets to support concrete processing. Some people benefit from mostly talk therapy while others can be helped by supporting activities.
Earth Mind - Ecopsychology
For those who are interested, I offer an earth-minded therapy practice that draws on nature as a support to mental health. This type of work can benefit people who are distressed by ecological crisis in our current world, and it can be used for any issue unrelated to ecological crisis.
I use materials from the Earth, practices engaging Earth elements and wisdom, and Earth-based mindfulness practices to help people engage in their current challenges. Based on the unified ground of our existence with the context of this planet, ecopsychology work can help people discover a sense of belonging, happiness, power, and freedom.
Just as importantly, an earth-minded approach lets us think outside of our own problems and engage in the healing of the planet. Often people find this perspective healing for themselves, meaningful, and rewarding.
